Yesterday, Lee Lan said : “Is there still hope?”
She has been seeking justice for her brother Teoh Beng Hock for 12 years. The truth is still concealed, perpetrators are still not brought to justice.
On 15 July 2009, Beng Hock was brought to the headquarters of Malaysian Anti-Corruption to give a witness statement. After a marathon interrogation until early morning, he was found dead at the fifth floor of Plaza Masalam.
The legal process took 5 years, eventually the court of appeal accepted the expert view of Thai pathologist Dr. Pornthip, that there was prefill injury on the neck of Beng Hock. The judges said one or more unknown persons caused the death of Beng Hock.
However, in 2016 the police and the AG Chambers said no criminal elements after reinvestigation. After Pakatan Harapan came to power, the AG Chambers ordered the police to reinvestigate Beng Hock’s death under the provision of “unlawful confinement”, which drew criticism from Teoh’s family.

When will the long road to justice will  end? Please join the “Right to Truth : Sharing of families of Victims” forum at 8:30pm on 24 March 2021, in conjunction with International Day for Right to Truth
