CALL FOR ACTION AND SOLIDARITY

Last week artist, Amin Landak and activist Anna Har were questioned by the police over the animated short film “Chili Powder and Thinner” and their home and office raided.

This week we saw four other activists summoned to the police station and questioned over the same film. The four-minute animation is based on a real experience of torture and death in police custody.

Join us in our campaign to urge the authorities to face the allegations of torture and custodial deaths and end the harassment of those who speak out

3 THINGS YOU CAN DO :

1. This Saturday July 10th from 8PM-10PM, watch the film / have a watch party of the 4-minute film “Chili Powder and Thinner.” : https://bit.ly/3hTqUaF

2. Share your thoughts and feelings about the film on social media platforms (Twitter, IG, Facebook, TikTok, etc) with the hashtag #IPCMCNow and #LawanIntimidasi

Take 3 minutes to sign the open letter and petition calling for the gov't to act : Open Letter: https://bit.ly/2TKaARR &  Petition: https://www.change.org/p/pdrm-gagal-ipcmc-now-end-police-brutality-and-misconduct-in-malaysia

Here are some guiding questions you can consider when reflecting on the film, police brutality and deaths in custody. We don't have to know all the answers, but let's think through together

▪️Why do you think police brutality still happens?
▪️Who is holding the police accountable?
▪️Who do you think are affected the most by police brutality? How does one's identity and social status affect the treatment one gets from the police?
▪️What can we do as a society to change this?
