The Roadmap for Eradicating Poverty Beyond Growth....

"For close to a century, we have been led to believe that growing the economy is the surest route out of poverty. During his mandate as the UN’s leading poverty expert, the former UN Special Rapporteur on extreme poverty and human rights Olivier De Schutter began to question this accepted wisdom.

Today we live on a planet that has never been wealthier, with global billionaire wealth growing by roughly $5.7 billion a day in 2024. Yet the number of people still living in poverty – around 3.5 billion according to the World Bank – has barely changed since 1990.

Inequality is spiralling. Chasing endless GDP growth is making the rich richer, while people in poverty are driven to exhaustion in poorly paid, often dangerous jobs to satisfy the needs of a tiny elite."

Presentation of the Roadmap for Eradicating Poverty Beyond Growth by the UN Special Rapporteur on extreme poverty and human rights (2020-2026), Olivier De Schutter, at the headquarters of the International Labour Organization on 22 April 2026.

Roadmap policies fall under five pillars, with democratic planning and governance underpinning them all:

  1. Transforming economic systems
  2. Labour, care and economic democracy
  3. Universal basic services and social protection
  4. Ecological justice
  5. Transforming the international economic order

Why should I upgrade to Internet Explorer 7? Microsoft has redesigned Internet Explorer from the ground up, with better security, new capabilities, and a whole new interface. Many changes resulted from the feedback of millions of users who tested prerelease versions of the new browser. The most compelling reason to upgrade is the improved security. The Internet of today is not the Internet of five years ago. There are dangers that simply didn't exist back in 2001, when Internet Explorer 6 was released to the world. Internet Explorer 7 makes surfing the web fundamentally safer by offering greater protection against viruses, spyware, and other online risks.
