Amidst earthquake, tsunami and typhoon around the world, a different kind of tremor is being anticipated here at home.

All eyes are set to focus on yet another by-election in anticipation of the outcome that could maintain or break the pattern of the by-elections held post-8^th March 2008.

The outcome of all save one of the by-elections has been favourable to Pakatan Rakyat so far, which some claim is an indication that the political climate has not changed much and is also a result of numerous actions by the ruling coalition that don't seem to resonate with the pulse of the people.

Bagan Pinang seems to hold the promise of a fresh perspective. A constituency that lies side by side with our rich historical past, reaching out from its foundations in the form of old forts and a lighthouse amongst others, it has long been a stronghold of Barisan Nasional.

Amidst the cacophony of issues like postal votes and army towns, the by-election is set to be a remarkable event that will be watched closely by all. Come this Saturday, people from all walks of life will be heading to the nomination centre to show their support and come 11th October 2009, the constituents of Bagan Pinang will exercise their right to vote and choose their representative.
